Thanks to the relatively flat relief of the country, one can pedal across the island by bicycle. One can hire bicycles in touristy areas such as Grand Bay, Trou aux Biches, Flic en Flac or Blue Bay in order to enjoy a pleasant stroll along the island's coastline. It is an ideal way to discover the island and stop off whenever a beach takes your fancy. This is quite difficult to do if one is travelling by car or taxi.
Be careful! Here, like everywhere else, riding a scooter or a bicycle is dangerous. Choose this mode of transport for short distances and be very careful.
Avoid travelling at night as much as possible. Have a nice ride!
Karting is one of the newest motor sports in the country that is available to the public since the opening of the Kart Loisir in December 2001. The circuit is 900 metres long. Motor racing events are held there.
One can easily hunt for java deer and wild boar in Mauritius. However, one is allowed to hunt for java deer only during the prescribed period which runs from June to October whereas wild boar or deer hunting is practiced all year round.
This sport is proposed by the Domaine du Chasseur and the Domaine d'Anse Jonchée. You can also meet professional hunters who have priority access to reserved spots.
One can enjoy a horseback ride on private estates or along the beaches. Beginners can also try riding as the proposed horses are generally tamed and gentle.
Some hotels also proposed horseback rides along the beach.
Here, it's all about shooting right into the nature. Accompanied by an instructor, one goes off hunting for ...3D targets (only proposed by the Domaine de l'Etoile).
Some hotels such as le Canonnier, le Sofitel Imperial, l'Hôtel Ambre, le Mont choisy Hôtel, le Shandrani and le Paradis also offer archery.
