L'île Plate and îlot Gabriel are located 8km to the north of Cap Malheureux. A lagoon of 200m separates one from another. Thanks to its easy access, l'ilot Gabriel is the more popular of the two. Nevertheless, it remains distinctly less crowded than the famous île aux Cerfs...
Several service providers - hotels, independent companies or agencies - propose outings aboard a catamaran up to the islets of the northern coast You can enjoy a tasty barbecue or picnic with soft drinks, rum and cocktails. You can also try looking at the underwater fish.

The Coin de Mire, île Ronde and île aux Serpents are declared as nature reserves that are prohibited to the public. The Coin de Mire is the nearest island to the northern coastline and has the highest cliff of the country culminating at a height of 162 meters above sea level. Scuba diving enthusiasts can explore the splendid sea bed around here. L'île Ronde (30km2) and île aux Serpents (16km2) are located 15km to the north of Cap Malheureux, Ile aux Serpents is round and île Ronde provides a habitat to snakes.
Declared as a nature reserve, this island is home to numerous indigenous plants, birds and reptiles. It is open to the public (prior reservation is required). The island extends over 26 hectares.
The island is 2km long and 500m wide. Many service providers organise outings around the island and an encounter with the dolphins is possible.
