Mauritius Island

The sea beds

Mauritius is renowned the world over for its wealth of underwater fauna.  An extraordinary variety of multicoloured fish of different shapes and sizes, living in the blue turquoise lagoons, can be spotted in the surrounding coral reefs.
Parrotfish, clownfish, groupers, scorpion fish, moray eels, skate, tuna, swordfish, sailfish, barracudas, marlin (blue and black), sharks (blue sharks, hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks and basking sharks) and dolphins are found here.

The best period for scuba diving is during the summer, from November to April.
The sea beds around the island can be explored by scuba diving, sea walking, semi-submersible or underwater submarines.
