The Pamplemousses Botanical Garden
Pamplemousses Botanical Garden is an essential site in Mauritius. It's one of the worldliest renowned botanical gardens. One can discover the beautiful giant water lilies, "Victoria regia," the flower which blooms once every two hundred years, over 200 palm trees species and much more. This garden covers 26 hectares and over 600 plants species are featured as well.
The Botanical garden is located 12 km away from Port-Louis in the North-West direction and is opened from 06 00am to 06 00pm.
Entrance ticket:
Rs 25 for locals and Rs 100 for tourists.
Mahébourg : Printing-Compositions
Takun Nurrundin is exhibiting his piece of works at the Musée d'Histoire Naturelle from the 25th February to the 29th March. Born in Camp Chapelon in Port-Louis, this young artist of 26years old draws most of his inspiration within an emotion which he retranscribes through 35 serigraphies on paper which are presented at the exhibition. The museum is situated in the southern region of the island along the royal road of Mahébourg.
The "Naturelles Histoire" museum
Established in 1842, the National Museum, "le Musée d'Histoire Naturelle" is the oldest one in Mauritius. You'll find a whole collection that dates back to the 18th century exhibiting unique and rare species of birds, mammals, reptiles, tortoises, shells, butterflies, corals, but also the famous skeleton of the Dodo.
The museum is located in the heart of Port Louis and it is opened from Monday to Sunday from 09 00am to 05 00pm. Please note that the Musée d'Histoire Naturelle is closed on Wednesdays.
