Swimming, slides, jacuzzi and other water sports activities unique to Mauritius are the main attractions of Waterpark.  These are privileged leisure activities, especially at this time of the year when it is getting hotter and hotter from day to day.          

Nestled in an arid savannah with parched vegetations along the coast of Belle Mare (East), the Waterpark looks like a haven of freshness.  Behind its façade that looks like an old fort with cracked walls, there are pools and slides that hold exceptional water sports activities.    

The setting immediately sets the atmosphere.  A threatening ship - with cannon-armed beam-ends - washed up near a monumental skull and crossbones.  Embedded on the hillside, water streams from its cavernous orbits.  Its' time for adventure!         

Lined with brightly coloured plants, the trail breads off into different directions.  Each road leads to a particular activity indicated by a sign.  The path then momentarily runs alongside the "lazy river."  A peaceful river suddenly appears out of the entrails of a hill before disappearing behind another.

The swimmers, as languid as the river, wallow on rafts.  They are lulled by the waves which feebly rock this tortuous route.

Dragon and toad 

Not far from there, another magic universe opens up to the younger ones.  It's the kids' swimming pool, populated with strange beings.  Under the watchful eyes of their parents, small children frolic in the shallow waters, amongst a dragon, a huge frog slide, giant mushrooms that give out water and other such creatures.     

Located near the restaurant, the adults' swimming pool is larger, with an undefined shape, embellished with a few short slides.  The most popular spot here is the jacuzzi.  Swimmers constantly linger there in order to enjoy the relaxing massage provided by the powerful bubbling water-jets.  

Another place with tumultuous water is the pool with artificial waves, which simulates a rough sea.  An alarm announces the start of the movements.  They last for about ten minutes, during which time the swimmers let themselves be shaken by fake heavy swells.  However, the most popular attractions are undoubtedly the four long slides perched on two hills.  The mysterious "black hole" drags its visitors along for a mad race through the tunnel.  Tightly attached to their rubber rafts, the runners start to shout just to intensify the thrills.                   

Emotions and big thrills

The big blue loop consists of two long slides without any rubber rafts.  Two people can start at the same time and race against each other.  The technique requires one to remain stiff and let oneself be swept away like a bobsleigh.  But the competitors always devise various postures in order to make the most of this race.
