BIENVENUE DANS LA COMMUNE DE : LA POSSESSION

La Possession holds the memory of Réunion Island. The ships of the King of France landed in this town. Enclosed between Saint-Denis and Saint-Paul, La Possession is a town where people pass by. Much regarded as a dormitory town, La Possession is a pleasant place for people working in the west and north to reside. Numerous hikes, and not always the easiest, will allow you to discover picturesque landscapes, such as Mafate and la Roche Ecrite.

Chemin des Anglais
The Chemin des Anglais is undoubtely the oldest road on the island. The English used it in order to invade Bourbon Island. This road links La Possession to St-Denis along the top of the cliff.
Access: near the edge of La Corniche, towards La Possession, go up the cliff taking the least steep path.

Chemin Boeuf-Mort
At the beginning of the colonisation period, Téxeira de la Motta (the Téchers’s ancestor) owned nearly all of La Possession’s lands as well as huge herds. Whenever he fancied a steak, he got on his horse, shot the animal of his choice and pulled it along the crest known as the Chemin Bœuf today.
