BIENVENUE DANS LA COMMUNE DE : BRAS-PANON
Bras-Panon is famous for its “bichiques”. These small fish are very popular among locals and known as the “creole caviar”. Mostly rural, the commune of Bras-Panon is nestled amid sugar cane fields. The Eastern valley has a humid climate, hence a luxuriant vegetation which can be enjoyed thanks to numerous easy hikes. Apart from sugar cane fields, there are also vanilla plantations and parks in Bras-Panon. Its name comes from an affluent of the Rivière des Roches which flowed across the property of the Panon-Desbassyns, a wealthy, powerful and influential family over the island in the 18th and 19th centuries.
